This photograph dates back more than sixty years to the early 1960s, taken at the Al-Kashafa Stadium in Baghdad (Al-Kasra district). I am standing on the left side of the image, alongside Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Mohammed Sabaa and Corporal Saber Latif during an Iraqi Army championship race. During this period, athletes began using specialized running shoes known as "Spikes." Prior to this, we used to compete barefoot, which was extremely difficult and often led to injuries and complications during races.
