I experienced a reunion that brought back the joy of more than fifty years, meeting with the remaining pioneers and stars of Iraqi basketball—players, coaches, and athletes alike. We exchanged stories of our many days together, reviving memories, anecdotes, and paradoxes, while remembering our fellow stars and champions. I returned to the People's Hall (Qaat Al-Shaab) in Baghdad, walking with shy, slow, and deliberate steps after thirty-five years of running across basketball courts. This very court was my final station during my international and local retirement match in 1985. Since then, I had parted ways with the ball, the court, the whistle, and the crowd, carrying away only the love of friends—until I met those who remain today. I am deeply touched by this celebration and reception; I find myself unable to express the extent of my happiness and delight.
